Google Slammed with 2 Undecillion Ruble Fine
Russia had started military activities since Ukraine in January 2022, and this took the world by storm where we saw many countries, companies and organizations take a stand against Russia.
Among many such companies was Google, the America based tech titan, which involved banning certain YouTube channels.
These channels belonged to those media companies/ television channels who were pro Kremlin.
Now Google is facing a penalty amount that surpasses even the world GDP by manifold.
The amount came around a humongous sum of 2 undecillion RUB or 2.5 decillion dollars, which is basically an uncountable sum, and this sum might keep increasing with time.
The lawsuit began back in 2020 itself when Google banned a Tsargrad channel for violation of certain rules, which resulted in lawsuits by the same and RIA FAN.
According to this lawsuit if the channel was not restored, a penalty of 100,000 RUB would be charged every day and the amount would double every week.
2022 Russia - Ukraine activities saw further banning of channels by Google which resulted in further lawsuits by around 17 more pro Kremlin media companies.
The amount is so huge that it almost seems “symbolic” and cannot be humanely pronounced, with as many as 36 zeroes.
Google’s net market worth doesn’t even come near the fine they have been charged, and Google has been warned to look over its management.
The failure to pay the fine on time and restoring the asked channels have led to such a gigantic fine, as exclaimed by an expert.
