Samsung is talking with AI startup Perplexity about adding their technology to future Galaxy phones. If the deal goes through, Perplexity could become a main AI assistant on the Galaxy S26 phones coming in early 2026.

This would be a big change for Samsung, which currently uses Google’s Gemini AI for features like Circle to Search on its latest phones.

The possible deal isn’t just about adding another app. Samsung might build Perplexity’s search features right into the Samsung Internet browser. They’re also discussing ways to improve Samsung’s own Bixby assistant with Perplexity’s technology.

What makes Perplexity different from other AI tools? When you ask it a question, it gives you direct answers and shows where it got its information from. This means you can check if what it’s telling you is accurate. Perplexity also uses several different AI models working together, which helps it handle all kinds of questions better.

Samsung appears serious about this partnership. Reports suggest the company will invest heavily in Perplexity’s upcoming $500 million funding round, which values the startup at $14 billion.

This move follows a growing trend where phone makers work with multiple AI companies instead of just one. Motorola recently partnered with Perplexity too, giving Razr and Edge 60 phone users three months of Perplexity Pro for free.

The companies are even discussing bigger ideas, like creating new operating systems with AI built in at every level. They’re also exploring apps that could use multiple AI assistants together to handle complex tasks.

While Samsung and Perplexity haven’t finalized anything yet, they’ve met in South Korea and worked out the basic details. An announcement could come later this year, well before the Galaxy S26 phones launch.

For everyday phone users, this partnership could mean getting faster, more accurate answers when asking your phone questions. Instead of getting a list of websites to check, you might get the exact information you need right away, with sources you can verify.
