Apple Vision Pro’s 180 Degrees of Cinematic Future: Blackmagic’s URSA Cine Immersive Camera Delivers Dual 8K Visualization

The Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera has been introduced by Blackmagic Design. It’s specially designed for capturing spatial video content for the Apple Vision Pro headset. This camera pushes the boundaries of cinematic capture for virtual reality experiences. The camera can capture a 180-degree field of view with spatial audio support.

Cinematographers can shoot 90 fps video in stereoscopic 3D video for the Vision Pro. Blackmagic has not disclosed how much the camera will cost. The URSA Cine Immersive boasts a custom stereoscopic 3D lens system with dual 8k sensors. This powerful setup allows for capturing a 180-degree field of view with spatial audio support, fully immersing viewers in the scene.

Each eye experiences a resolution of 8,160×7,200 with 16 stops of dynamic range, guaranteeing accurate color reproduction in every frame, even in challenging lighting conditions. The URSA Cine Immersive is constructed from a robust magnesium alloy chassis and a lightweight yet durable carbon fiber polycarbonate composite skin. Dual 5-inch HDR touchscreens provide intuitive camera controls and monitoring, while an external color status LCD screen displays essential shooting information.

A built-in 8 TB Blackmagic Media Module offers ample storage for capturing roughly two hours of 8k stereoscopic video in Blackmagic RAW format. Blackmagic Design is releasing an update to DaVinci Resolve editing software to complement the URSA Cine Immersive camera. A new immersive video viewer is introduced, enabling editors to adjust pan, tilt, and roll of clips for optimal viewing on both 2D monitors and the Apple Vision Pro headset itself.
