Apple & Broadcom: The $30 Billion Chip Alliance
Apple and Broadcom have finalized a multi-year agreement valued at over $30 billion, covering the production of more than 15 billion U.S.-made chips. The deal includes a major expansion of Broadcom’s facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. This is the single largest commitment under Apple’s U.S. manufacturing initiative to date.
Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO) officially announced the agreement on July 8, 2026. Broadcom’s Fort Collins facility will manufacture advanced radio-frequency components, including FBAR filters (Film Bulk Acoustic Resonators), which are critical for isolating radio signals in iPhones and other devices to ensure clear calls and data transmission. Broadcom’s presence in Fort Collins dates back to 1978 with Hewlett-Packard (HP), evolving through Agilent, Avago, and finally merging into the Broadcom of today in 2015. The facility currently employs nearly 1,600 workers, making it one of the largest technology employers in the region.
Apple CEO Tim Cook stated in a release that “the cutting-edge components made in Fort Collins are essential to delivering the exceptional performance and connectivity our customers expect.” Broadcom CEO Hock Tan noted that Apple’s commitment will help Broadcom expand its manufacturing footprint in Fort Collins. Cook also thanked the Trump administration for its support of the project.

The Apple-Broadcom agreement extends through 2031 and includes the development and production of “custom ASIC silicon products” for multiple generations of Apple devices. Broadcom disclosed these long-term agreements in its filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The Fort Collins facility will continue to serve as a key hub for U.S. semiconductor manufacturing, while Apple continues to expand its domestic supply chain through its U.S. Manufacturing initiative.
