LG Electronics is broadening access to its Gaming Portal, moving beyond Smart TVs to include Smart Monitors and StanbyME lifestyle screens by the second quarter of 2025. The expansion will soon include Xbox Cloud Gaming, adding to existing partnerships with NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Amazon Luna, Boosteroid, and Blacknut.

The Gaming Portal, currently available in 19 countries on LG Smart TVs running webOS 23 and newer, offers access to cloud gaming apps and webOS games. Users can browse and play games directly through their TV’s home screen without needing extra gaming hardware.

“The Gaming Portal will provide users with a seamless, convenient, and exciting way to enhance the gaming experience on LG Smart TVs,” says Chris Jo, senior vice president of platform business at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company.

The portal features two main gaming options: “Play with Remote Control” or “Play with Game Pad.” A personalized “My Page” section lets users track their progress and create custom game lists, though these achievements don’t integrate with individual cloud gaming platforms.

On the technical front, LG’s latest OLED evo TVs support gaming at 4K resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate – a first for the industry. These TVs have earned VESA’s ClearMR 10000 certification for motion clarity during fast-paced games and include both NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium certifications to prevent screen tearing.

The upcoming partnership with Xbox marks a significant addition to LG’s gaming ecosystem. “Our partnership with LG will help players easily discover and play games through the new Gaming Portal on LG Smart TVs,” notes Lori Wright, Corporate Vice President of Xbox.

The Gaming Portal’s interface includes trending games, editor’s picks, and recently played titles. This setup mirrors similar offerings like Samsung’s Gaming Hub, which is already available across various devices including projectors.

The service expansion aligns with Microsoft’s broader strategy to make Xbox games accessible on any screen with an internet connection. Recent moves include bringing Xbox Cloud Gaming to Samsung Smart TVs and Amazon Fire TV devices.

LG’s Gaming Portal is currently available in Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkiye, UK and USA, with more markets planned for the upcoming expansion.
