Microsoft has launched a free AI video tool on its Bing platform. The new “Bing Video Creator” turns text into short videos using OpenAI’s Sora technology. Anyone with a Bing account can now use this tool on their phones.

People who wanted to create AI videos before needed to pay at least $20 monthly for ChatGPT Plus. Now they can make videos for free through Bing.

“We believe creativity should be effortless and accessible,” Microsoft explained while launching this tool.

The videos are 5 seconds long and currently come in vertical format, similar to TikTok or Instagram Stories. A horizontal format is coming soon. Users can make these videos in two ways: “Standard” speed (free but takes hours) or “Fast” speed (quicker but limited).

Everyone gets 10 free “Fast” videos. After that, they need Microsoft Rewards points – 100 points for each quick video. People earn these points by using Bing for searches or shopping at the Microsoft Store.

Creating a video is simple. Open the Bing app, tap the menu in the bottom right corner, and select “Video Creator.” Type what you want to see – like “a small otter working as a pizza chef in Italy” – and the AI makes it happen. You can save up to three video requests at once.

The videos stay available for 90 days. You can download them, share them on social media, or send them by email.

To prevent misuse, Microsoft blocks harmful video requests. Every video also carries a digital label showing it was made by AI.

This tool works worldwide except in China and Russia. A desktop version is coming soon.

Google recently announced its own AI video tool called Veo 3, but it’s mainly for paying customers. Microsoft’s free offering gives Bing an advantage as both companies compete for users.

For everyday people, this means creating short videos for social media posts, birthday messages, or quick visual ideas without needing video skills or expensive software.
