When closed, OPPO’s new Find N5 looks like a regular smartphone. When opened, it transforms into a tablet-sized screen measuring just 4.21mm thin. Launched globally on February 20, 2025, this phone tackles common problems that made earlier folding phones bulky and fragile.
“We’re putting tablet and laptop experiences in your hands,” explains Pete Lau, OPPO‘s Chief Product Officer. At 229 grams, the Find N5 is lighter than most folding phones while adding features that matter for daily use.
Built to Last
Remember worrying about rain ruining your phone? The Find N5’s IPX9 rating means it can withstand high-pressure water jets at extreme temperatures. Its screen uses a special nanocrystal glass that’s 20% more likely to survive accidental drops.
The folding hinge, often the weakest point in folding phones, uses Grade 5 titanium alloy for improved durability. It’s 26% smaller and 36% stronger than before, tested to work smoothly even after years of opening and closing.
Two Screens, Many Possibilities
The main screen opens to 8.12 inches – larger than many small tablets. Whether you’re reading documents, watching videos, or helping kids with homework, the extra space makes everything easier to see. The outer 6.62-inch screen works like a regular phone for quick tasks.
Both screens are bright enough to read clearly with over 2000 nits peak brightness for HDR content and adjust their brightness to reduce eye strain. The folding screen has such a minimal crease that independent testing lab TÜV Rheinland gave it a special certification.

OPPO, now the fourth-largest smartphone maker globally with 700 million users across 70 markets, is betting that this design – rather than more experimental three-screen phones – is what people actually want to use.
Looking Ahead
Tech reviewer Dominic Preston notes an interesting point: the Find N5 is so thin that making it any thinner would require removing the USB-C port. This suggests we’re reaching the practical limits of how thin these devices can get while still being useful.
